HAMILTON - When School begins Tuesday, September 7th, three new principals will be there to welcome students at Corvallis and Hamilton schools

The new Corvallis High School principal is Jason Wirt who moved up from the CHS Vice-Principal/Athletic Director position. Moving into Wirt's old position is Tyson Tucker. Hamilton Middle School's new Principal is Sharon Anderson, who moved from the Dillon School System with 35 years teaching experience in grades 1-8.

Wirt says the transition from vice-principal to principal is a bit overwhelming because as he is learning his new job he's training Tucker for his old job. "I have lots to learn and lots to teach," Wirt said. "Learning a new job is very exciting. You can get comfortable doing the same old job."

Changing jobs without changing schools has plenty of advantages according to Wirt. "It is good to have the luxury of knowing my colleagues and the students. Now I won't always be the enforcer and I'm excited to have the opportunity to build more positive relationships with students."

He said he wasn't looking for a different job, enjoyed the job he held at CHS for the past four years and will continue moving the High School in the direction planned. "We'll continue the teacher mentor, freshmen mentor, and assessment for learning programs," said Wirt. "I'm excited for school to start."

New CHS Vice-Principal/Athletic Director Tucker comes with a sports background. "I'm excited to be in this position - it is a dream job for me," he said. "I love athletics and am a sports junkie. It's in my blood."

He's also happy to be in Corvallis. "It is a fun place and a great place to work - I can tell the staff loves working here," he said. Tucker's wife is a new teacher for Hamilton's Daly Elementary School.

Hamilton's Middle School Principal Sharon Anderson is ready to start school. "I'm excited and honored to be a part of this school system," she said. "I love interacting with the Middle School age group - they are interesting and challenging in a positive way."

Anderson will be principal until the return of Principal Dan Kimzey who is serving with the United States Army Reserve (that date is unknown).

Anderson says she really enjoys kids. "It's never dull. They're bright, excited and I just enjoy them," she said.

Anderson also works with the American Legion Montana Auxiliary as the Girl's State Director.
