HELENA- The Montana Association of Realtors has released a report which shows the Helena housing market is growing.

So far this year, homeowners have sold 316 single family houses, marking a 20% increase over last year.

The average sales prices is estimated at $210,000, which is a $10,000 increase when compared to 2011.

While prices are up, it is taking longer to sell. On average a house is on the market for 161 days. This is 18 days longer than last year.

The Montana Association of Realtors reports two factors are contributing to the improving housing market: record low interest rates and an increase in consumer confidence.

Earlier this month the average rate on a 30 year loan was 3.5%
