MISSOULA - The winner of the latest First Night Star competition in Missoula is Michelle Duflocq-Williams, who attends Hellgate High School.
The event was part of a musical singing competition held at the Wilma, with bragging rights and a trophy on the line to claim stake as Missoula's brightest star.
Monday night's 2012 finale brought in quite the audience, with the Wilma selling out. It has become a Garden City New Year's tradition over the years.
"We've been doing this now for 19 years on New Year's Eve, celebrating a community-wide festival of the arts. And the First Night Star is in its eighth year, it's a high school competition, and...[they] are all competing on the Wilma stage, to a packed house," Missoula Cultural Council Executive Director Tom Bensen said.
