BILLINGS- Firefighters gained ground on the Horse Creek Fire overnight where officials say the blaze is 25% contained.
Crews were able to get a dozer line around the 6,144-acre fire overnight and firefighters are now focusing efforts today on protecting the high power NorthWestern Energy transmission lines that run through that area.
The fire is burning 30 miles south of Hysham and sparked Sunday afternoon. The Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation along with Treasure County firefighters and resources from neighboring counties, responded to the fire.
Resources from neighboring fires, like the Dahl Fire in Musselshell County, were called in to assist.
No evacuations remain in effect and officials say no structures have been lost in the fire. The cause of the blaze is still under investigation.
