HELENA - A horse that fell through the ice in the North Helena Valley on Tuesday afternoon has been released back to his owner.
The horse named "Roy" had been submerged up to his shoulders in the icy cold spring pond for more than an hour before rescuers were able to pull him out.
He was reportedly suffering from severe hypothermia. A spokesperson at the Bridger Veterinary Hospital - where Roy was taken - says his prognosis for recovery is good.
The owners were able to take Roy home to a heated barn wrapped in blankets.
One of the men who went into the freezing water to help with the rescue told workers at the veterinary hospital that the water was extremely cold.
