MISSOULA- The Montana Grizzlies continue to win in the Big Sky Conference, sitting with a 6-1 record and seeing four different players leading them in scoring in those seven games.
Art Steward picked up the slack last Saturday with 20 points on nine-of 10 shooting and the Casper Wyoming native raised his already incredible shooting percentage in the game.
He's leading the Big Sky Conference, making more than 73% of his shots during conference play. And even though he's 6'4" and plays the small forward position, Steward makes most of those shots right at the basket.
"Coach Tinkle has always been on me about finishing. I've always been in the weight room trying to build up a little bit so I can absorb some contact, and stuff. And, that's how my game has always kind of been. I've been like a slasher," Stewart explained.
"I've always been working with the big guys down there a little bit. I guess ever since high school that's how, I was kind of big in high school. And then you get to college, it's like, oh I'm a small guy. But I still kind of do work down low," he added.
Steward and the Griz will need to do their work back on the road this week as they head out to Cheney to take on Eastern Washington on Thursday night.
