CORVALLIS - A Corvallis man is suffering minor injuries today after trying to rescue his dog and other items from his burning home.

The fire was reported just before 8 a.m. at a two-story house on the east side of Corvallis. Approximately 60 firefighters were on scene from Corvallis Rural Fire, Hamilton, Victor, Pinesdale and Stevensville fire departments.

Corvallis Fire chief Jim Knapp says firefighters worked until the afternoon to put out all the hot spots.

Knapp says the man's home is a total loss and his dog did not survive the fire.

The cause of the fire is unknown.
