MISSOULA- The final four started Monday in Missoula as the interviews for the four finalists who are up for the Director of Athletics job at the University of Montana got underway.

The first to be on campus made the longest trip. Carl Clapp, the interim Athletic Director at the University of Hawaii-Manoa, made the rounds. He had his formal interview and then took part in a public forum and meet and greet on campus.

Clapp believes he's the right man to lead an athletic department going through a tough patch.

"Things will happen. I think, the way at least I really want to be evaluated, is what do I do to address them. How do I address it. So, you know, what I would do if I had the fortunate opportunity to become the athletics director here is, first of all, there is so many good things going on that we have lost track of. But they are still going on, the place hasn't changed," Clapp commented.

The other three finalist forums are scheduled for this Wednesday through Friday this week on campus. Each event will run from 5:15 to 6:15 p.m. in the University Center Theater.

Next up is John Johnson, senior associate director of athletics at Washington State University. He's slayed for Wednesday. Kent Haslam, associate athletic director for development with the UM Foundation, with meet the public Thursday. The final candidate, Chris King, director of intercollegiate athletics at the University of Texas-Pan American, will have his forum on Friday.
