BUTTE - An Irish exhibition showing the Irish in Montana is recently returned from display in Ireland.
The exhibit is on display at the Butte-Silver Bow Public Archives. The archives developed the exhibit last spring, according the Ellen Crain, director of the Butte-Silver Bow Public Archives.
The exhibit was on display in Ireland at the University of College Cork Library. The exhibit explores the emigrant journey from Ireland and their lives in Montana. The exhibit includes images and pieces that people across Montana have shared.
Representatives from the archives took the exhibit to Ireland this summer. Nearly 250 people approached them saying they had a direct connection to Butte from The Emerald Isle.
"There are times that I have felt that the whole world has sort of emerged from Butte or has some sort of link to Butte and it was confirmed when we were putting this together," Crain said.
An open house will be held Thursday at the archives from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
