KALISPELL- An assisted living community in Kalispell is excited to see blue prints and architectural sketches come to life in its back yard.
Ground breaking at Immanuel Lutheran Communities started on March 10th and two construction projects are happening on the property; the expansion of Buffalo Terrace assisted living area with a new three-story
apartment building with 14 units and an assisted living commons area on the west side of the property.
Across the street a new rehabilitation center is underway with 16 private rooms and baths along with a 5,000 square foot therapy gym.
Immanuel Lutheran PR and Marketing Director Tracy Bridges says the expansion is an effort to prepare for the abundance of aging baby-boomers who will need assisted living.
"With the changing demographics fore-casted for the future the aging of the population here in Montana, there's going to be a need for more senior living and we have seen that need and are planning ahead. This is just our first phase of development for senior living expansion."
Immanuel Lutheran Communities resident Faye Hegland says the process is fun to be a part of.
"It's exciting to watch it, so everyday I go to the different windows to see what's going on and I think that they're coming along just fine."
The construction will be completed in March 2012 and next week they'll start laying down concrete at the rehab center.
