KALISPELL - Plans are still in the works to finish up the U.S. Highway 93 bypass in Kalispell.
The Montana Department of Transportation is ready to move forward with the first of four final stages that would build the road from U.S. Highway 93 North to Reserve Loop, but the project is waiting for money to become available before construction can begin.
In the meantime, officials are working on plans for the second phase of that construction, the elevating of Three Mile Drive near Empire Estates, where it would go over top of the bypass.
That design is nearly complete, but the MDT is ironing out details before they can bid out to a contractor, according to MDT Missoula District Administrator Ed Toavs.
"And so it's a pretty important meeting where we need to get local input from the city and coordinate with them, work towards that final detailed set of plans and get all the issues out on the table and try to resolve and get those taken care of."
MDT hopes to have thee plans completed sometime in the late spring.
