KALISPELL- Jack Allen of Great Falls brought a whole new meaning to the phrase "surprise party" when he organized a flash mob of sorts in Kalispell this week for his wife's 60th birthday.
Allen came up with the idea after his wife, Jean, decided she wanted to spend her birthday in the Glacier Park area.
Allen enlisted the help of friends, community members - and even strangers from Kalispell - to help carry out his plan to serenade Jean with 60 red roses.
Nearly 60 people discretely lined the long corridor of the Kalispell Center Mall on Wednesday night and began handing out roses to Jean as she and her husband walked through the mall.
But the story gets even better: Allen also wrote a song for his wife, which he had professionally recorded, and arranged to have it play over the mall's intercom for the duration of the flash mob.
The gesture left Jean nearly speechless; she said, "It was amazing, I could never even imagine anything like this. It's going to be tough to one-up that, but I have eight years," referring to when Jack will celebrate his 60th birthday.
Athletes and organizers from the Special Olympics also helped set up the birthday surprise.
