KALISPELL - A local man is getting ready to ride his bike across the country to raise money for wounded warriors. Joe Arnone and the rest of team 4 Mil are going to be competing in the Race Across America.
Arnone says this competition will not be easy. "It's arguably the most grueling endurance event outside the Tour De France, which everybody knows about...this is different because it's non-stop."
The Race Across America begins on June 14th and Arnone 's team, along with cyclists from across the world, will ride from California to Maryland.
Arnone says his team is comprised of current and former military members and they are racing for the Wounded Warriors Project.
"Well as a military team, obviously we are sensitive to that, maybe more than anybody else because we've all been in that situation, where you have that possibility of getting wounded or maybe paying the ultimate price, really in our mind, those wounded warriors are the best representatives of the sacrifices that all military members pay for their service to the country."
On January 29th, Arnone says he will ride 12 hours non-stop at the Sportsman & Ski Haus in Kalispell to raise money for his team.
"What I'm trying to do, for my part is raise awareness and raise money hopefully for our effort and also for the wounded warrior project which we are supporting."
The Wounded Warrior Project helps soldiers who have suffered serious injuries during their military service.
