KALISPELL- The Kalispell School District has put a large emphasis on teaching students how to prevent bullying in local schools for several years, and this week the public is being invited to help unite the community against bullying.
Elrod Elementary School is holding a "Building Community" meeting at their school gym on Friday to help promote the anti-bullying program which focuses on short and long-term solutions.
School staffers say that since the program started seven years ago, they've seen incidents of bullying go down.
"It's a really important part, also, of our developing a climate where it's acceptable to be bystanders that are helpful, not hurting and to be part of the solution instead of part of the problem," explained Elrod school counselor Alison Schmaltz.
The anti-bullying meeting will take place at Elrod Elementary School at 2:15 p.m. on Friday.
