KALISPELL - A 25-year-old Kalispell woman pleaded guilty to an allegation that she shook and seriously injured an infant.
In June 2011 Butler was babysitting an infant. She reportedly dropped the child, who began crying. Butler says she shook the baby when the child continued to cry.
The child was seriously injured and hospitalized. Doctors found the child had a fractured skull and serious mental impairment, and since then, there are reported signs that the child is still suffering, and continues to see a doctor.
In court, Butler said, "There's nothing I can say to change what's happened or to fix the situation. You know, I am terribly sorry for what has happened but I obviously can't fix the actions. I can just take the consequences."
Butler could face up to 10 years in prison for the crime of felony criminal endangerment.
She will be sentenced on Oct. 10.
