MISSOULA - A local radio station spent Friday raising thousands of dollars to buy Christmas gifts for needy kids.
Craig and Al host Western Montana's longest-running morning radio show on KYSS FM and for the past several years they've organized KYSSmas for Kids, and each year the fund drive just gets bigger.
Last year they raised $24,000 and used to money to take over 600 kids shopping for presents.
Craig from KYSS FM's Morning Show says that it's great to be part of something that helps the community.
"Every year we're kind of concerned because the local economy is so bad and there's so many people hurting and when you're asking people to give in a community with unemployment rates near 10 %, it's a crapshoot. But it's going really well, people have been responding and we're having a lot of fun."
Craig and Al ran their drive from 6 a.m. until 7 p.m. on Friday and at last check, they'd raised $16,000. You can find them on your radio dial at 94.9 FM.
