BUTTE- Lab results link a knife to the stabbing death of a Butte man.
Butte-Silver Bow Police Captain Doug Conway released results Tuesday from the State Crime Lab on testing of the blood found on the blade.
Conway said the results identified the blood as the blood of Robert Ray Bajzer, 62 years, who was killed in the stabbing. Conway said this is a significant piece of information in the case.
Conway said the large kitchen butcher-type knife was recovered by officers on February 16, 2011 in the alley behind Terminal Food Center on West Park Street close to where the stabbing took place.
Bajzer, also known as "Chicago Bob," was found dead by a passing motorist on West Park Street just after midnight Sunday, February 13, 2011.
A person of interest was seen fleeing the area going west toward Montana Street. Also, Bajzer had just left the nearby Eagles Lodge shortly before the stabbing.
Conway said more evidence will be sent to the State Crime Lab in Missoula for testing.
