MISSOULA - A legendary downtown Missoula bar has gone dark, but just for the time being.

The Top Hat Lounge on Front Street is undergoing a major remodeling project and will be closed until mid-March.

The familiar front of the building will get a new look, and the back and roof are undergoing the knife too.

New owner Nick Checota says the classic bar will stay, but a second one will be added, there will be new bathrooms, a kitchen, and a restaurant.

The music will remain the center piece, but drawing customers all day long will be the goal. The re-launch is set for March 14th.
