BILLINGS - A hunting accident landed a former Montana lawmaker and governor candidate in the hospital, recovering from surgery.
Sources tell the Montana Television Network News that former Montana State Senator Ken Miller of Laurel was apparently shot in both of his ankles.
Miller is listed in fair condition at Billings St. Vincent Healthcare, with unconfirmed reports saying the former Republican lawmaker was hunting Wednesday when he was hurt.
Details on how Miller was injured have not been released, but we have learned that he is now out of surgery, and friends tell us he is doing fine.
Miller, a Laurel businessman, served in the Montana Senate from 1994 to 2002 and was then elected chairman of the state Republican Party.
Miller ran in the primary elections for governor in 2004 and again in 2012.
