KALISPELL - Many residents in the Flathead have acted as layaway angels in years past, paying off total strangers' layaway accounts at stores around the valley.
We stopped by Kmart in Kalispell on Friday and were told there was just one so-called angel that had stopped by.
But store manager Steve Wilson says over the weekend folks donated more than $500 to help pay off accounts with toys and obvious kids items on them. Many of the angels gave a gift of about $50.
Wilson says Kmart is open until 10 p.m. on Monday night for folks who are in the Christmas Spirit and want to donate.
Last year's biggest contribution was $2,000, which was given by an anonymous donor from Whitefish.
