Lewistown man dies in rollover

LEWISTOWN- Anthony J. Sweeney of Lewistown has been identified as the sole victim of a rollover accident on Tuesday.

Fergus County Coroner R.J. (Dick) Brown issued a press release on Wednesday which states that Central Monana Dispatch received a call at 11:04 p.m. on Tuesday of a one vehicle rollover.

The incident occurred near mile marker 11 on US Highway 191, about 11 miles north of Lewistown.

According to Montana Highway Patrol (MHP), Sweeney was south-bound when he swerved left for an unknown reason. Vehicle struck the guardrail twice and turned onto its side.

The Fergus County Sheriff's Department, Lewistown Ambulance, Hilger Fire, Lewistown Fire & Rescue, and the MHP responded to the accident.

The driver of the 1997 GMC pickup, identified as 45 year old Anthony J. Sweeney of Lewistown, was killed and pronounced dead at the Central Montana Medical Center.

Sweeney was the only occupant in the vehicle.

The crash is being investigated by the MHP and Fergus County Coroner's Office. MHP confirmed that alcohol was a factor in this crash but it is unknown if speed was also a factor.

The press release states that he was was not wearing his seatbelt.
