Libby woman proclaims innocence in husband's death

LIBBY- A Libby woman who is accused of shooting her husband to death says she's not guilty of deliberate homicide.

Kristina Welch was arrested last month after her husband, Bryan Charles Welch, was found dead from a gunshot wound in the couple's home.

Welch claims her husband held a gun while the two were fighting, but he dropped it and then they both went for the weapon.

Welch says she grabbed it and shot her husband in what she thought was his arm.

The incident happened on December 8th and when authorities entered the home Bryan Welch was found shot to death in their home.

This was the first of three homicides to hit Lincoln County is less than a month, shaking up the small northwest Montana county.
