LIBBY- There's some good news for residents living south of the Libby Dam along the Kootenai River as for the first time ever, agencies monitoring the dam will allow its waters to reach maximum capacity.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers met with Canadian officials Tuesday and they agreed to allow the Corps to fill Lake Koocanusa's waters near the dam above full pool, to maximum capacity.
That means the amount of water flowing out of the dam will remain the same and the river below should not rise any higher in places like Libby and Troy.
