MISSOULA - A local chocolate maker got a sweet honor this week, winning a national award for the quality of its creations.
The International Chocolate Salon awarded Missoula's Posh Chocolat with a Grand award for Best Chocolatiers and Confectioners in America.
Posh Chocolat has been a part of downtown Missoula for five years and owner Jason Willenbrock said the chocolate's unique savory nodes and spices set them apart from the competition.
He said the business' latest award is as much for the community as it is the chocolatier.
"As big of a deal as it is for us, I think it's an even bigger deal for Missoula," Willenbrock said. "Our goal when we first opened our chocolate business was to kinda put Missoula on the culinary map and I think that we're doing our part."
Willenbrock is hoping to get even more national recognition in a couple weeks when he takes the shop's treats to a big chocolate show in San Francisco.
