MISSOULA- A man is accused of allegedly stealing a car, an assault rifle and then leading officers on a chase down Reserve Street in Missoula. Michael Reynolds faces felony theft and robbery charges.
Prosecutors say he stole a car in downtown Missoula, with the owner saying the car was locked and didn't have any keys inside the vehicle.
Shortly after that report, officers responded to Walmart on Reserve Street for a man who was looking at an assault rifle and then took off with it. A Walmart employee tried to stop him, but prosecutors say Reynolds threatened to kill him and continued running out of the store.
Authorities say Reynolds ended up throwing the rifle into some bushes, jumping into the stolen car and then driving away. Officers caught up with him a short time later when he crashed the car near Spurgin Road.
