The Northern Pacific Hockey League has announced that Missoula Maulers Head Coach Marcus Baxter has been named the 2010/2011 NORPAC Coach of the Year. The Maulers first year head coach posted a 34-16 record and took Missoula to the America West Finals, which they lost to the Helena Bighorns. The Maulers advanced to the America West Finals with a sweep of the Billings Bulls in the America West Semi-Finals.
The Maulers were the second seed in the America West this season scoring 274 goals for and only allowing 146 goals against. The Maulers were one of two teams that beat the Helena Bighorns this season. The Maulers were 19-6 at home this season, and they posted a 15-10 record on the road.
Scott Cunningham has won the NORPAC coach of the Year award the past six seasons. The Northern Pacific Hockey League congratulates Marcus Baxter for being named the 2010/2011 Coach of the Year.
