MISSOULA- The Missoula Maulers will kick off their fifth season with a home game against the defending national champion Helena Bighorns on September 30, 2011.
The 50-game schedule includes 25 home games at Glacier Ice Rink including contests against five teams in the newly formed American West Hockey League (AWHL). There are six teams in the AWHL: Missoula, Helena, the Billings Bulls, the Bozeman Icedogs, the Great Falls Americans and the Gillette Wild. The Maulers will also play two road games against teams in their former league, the Northern Pacific Hockey League. Missoula will play at Yellowstone on October 30, 2011 and at the new NORPAC franchise in Whitefish, the Glacier Nationals, on New Year's Eve. Missoula will also host Yellowstone in March.
The inaugural AWHL playoffs will include two best-of-7 series (1st seed vs. 4th seed and 2nd seed vs. 3rd seed). After a break for the national tournament, AWHL teams will return to play a best-of-7 series for the league championship.
Season tickets are on sale. All season ticket holders will have their names pained on their seats.
