HELENA - While the U.S. Senate and the Governor's race are getting a lot of attention, some other races further down the ballot are flying under the radar, including the campaign for a seat on the Montana Supreme Court.

Judge Laurie McKinnon and Attorney Ed Sheehy are running for the only contested state Supreme Court seat.

McKinnon is a District Court Judge in Choteau and Sheehy is an attorney in Missoula.

McKinnon says there are several issues that are important to her: continuing to expand drug courts across Montana, providing educational training to judges, and providing equal access to the judicial system.

Sheehy says he is running because there needs to be a new voice on the bench. He says the fact that a federal court just ruled to allow political parties to endorse judicial candidates threatens the integrity of the courts.

McKinnon's endorsements include the Montana Chamber of Commerce and Montana Farm Bureau.

Sheehy's endorsements include MEA-MFT.
