MISSOULA - There are some changes coming to Medicare with more programs being added beginning on January 1st.

Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Public Affairs Specialist Mike Fierberg stopped by the set of Montana This Morning Friday to discuss several issues surrounding Medicare.

He says that there are 170,000 Medicare recipients in Montana and that it's important that residents have the latest, accurate, information about what's happening in the program.

He issued a warning about some scams making the rounds in regards to the $250 rebate check that some folks have been receiving. The money is sent out to Medicare Part D participants who reach the so-called "doughnut hole" this year.

Fierberg says that those rebates are being automatically sent out and that people should be aware of those who are making phone calls or asking them to fill out forms in order to get their money.

There are some additions coming to Medicare and Medicaid including prescription drug changes and the addition of preventative program coverage.

Learn additional information about the upcoming changes by calling 1.800.465.2302 or by clicking here. Find out all of the details by watching Fierberg's interview here.
