MISSOULA- Imagine being able to walk or bike all the way from Hamilton to Missoula without having to share U.S. Highway 93 with cars or trucks.
Missoula County is studying possible pedestrian trail routes from Missoula to Lolo, which is the only unfinished link for a 45-mile trail from Hamilton to Missoula.
Missoula County's consultant, DJ&A, has developed three possible routes. The first two would follow an alignment on either the east or west side of U.S. Highway 93. The third route would go through the lower Miller Creek area with a new bridge over the Bitterroot River.
"The public is very excited about it. I've gotten a lot of really good feedback about the project, a lot of excitement generated around it. I think we'll have a good turn out and we'd really encourage people to spread the word and invite all to come," project manager Chris Anderson said.
An open house will take place on Tuesday, October 2nd at 7 p.m. in Missoula's Meadow Hill Middle School.
