ACTON - Residents in Acton are cleaning up after severe weather caused major damage to mobile homes and other structures in the area.
The U.S. National Weather Service has determined that a microburst is to blame for the severe damage in Acton. NWS reports that the microburst produced winds near 90 mph.
Thursday's severe weather that hit the area was part of a system that swept across Montana from Idaho.
Heavy winds, hail and thunderstorms also knocked out power in Butte and Twin Bridges and dropped hail that damaged crops in Gallatin County.
