MISSOULA- Missoula's Elbow Room Bar, which brags about having the hottest chicks and the coldest beer, is in the middle of an extreme makeover as they move from a double-wide trailer into a two story tall event center.
Missoulians have enjoyed a cold one at the local watering hole since 1960 and the Elbow Room has given back by supporting softball teams, hosting fundraisers and keeping its patrons from ever getting thirsty.
Josh and Wayne Paffhausen bought the bar three years ago and their impressive vision for a new future is taking shape in the lot just behind the old bar.
Todd Pauffhausen tells us they've had a lot of people stop by to ask what they're building. They hope to get it done as quickly as possible to get it open for November and football season since he says that "it's a sports bar, after all".
They broke ground in May and hope to have people drinking beer by November. Once the new facility is open, it will fit about three of the old ones as the new bar will be have about 19,000 square feet.
It will be an event center, two stories tall, with a covered back patio for concerts or weddings. There will also be a restaurant, two horseshoe pits, places for meetings, boxing, fashion shows and of course- several huge televisions. It will be a place to drink beer with a lot more....elbow room.
The construction of the new Elbow Room is taking place in two phases and the existing Elbow Room is still open for business.
