MISSOULA - When building a log home in Montana you have to consider fire dangers, beetle infestation, and upkeep. But one company has found a new way to make log homes that solves all of those problems.

"We can replicate anything you can find in the wood version, whether it's a siding product or a structural product, whatever profile or corner section you can find in a wood version, we can do in concrete," said EverLogTM System's Co-Founder and President, Stewart Hansen.

For six years the company EverLogTM Systems has been making replicas of traditional logs, out of concrete

"I think it's a great option, there's not going to be any maintenance involved, they're going to save a lot of money down the stream and that's what people should consider," said Hansen.

So far company has supplied the concrete logs and siding, to over 55 houses all across the country. They started in Missoula and that's where they currently make all of their products.

"It's a very flexible system, it's used all over the country not just for the Montana based homes, we're doing stuff in Louisiana, Missouri where you have a different set of conditions, where you have bugs and termites issues down in Louisiana our product will solve all these problems as well," said Hansen.

Local construction companies who have used the new technology say it's a great way to protect Montana homes against forest fires.

"Out in this setting where there's fires it's the perfect solution, that house there you could stack wood against it and burn it and it wouldn't go up in flames," said Hoyt Homes Owner, Wade Hoyt.

Hoyt says he owns a log home and after working with the concrete, he wouldn't build with wood for himself, again. "For the people who are considering a log home, I think it's the best way to go, it's forever."

Other homeowners we talked with say they liked the idea because it's "green" and doesn't use wood. They also think it's a step towards the future. They said they've lived in their concrete home for two years, and would never go back to wood.

And as for the look of the concrete houses, EverLogTM Systems has most everyone fooled. "Most people can't believe it, they gotta go up and knock on it, because it really does look like log," Hoyt explained.
