MISSOULA- The Garden City's big Fourth of July celebration will kick off on Wednesday evening at the Southgate Mall, where fireworks will light up the sky at 10:30 p.m. The mall is once again playing host to the annual Independence Day Celebration & Fireworks on July 4th with fun kicking off at 9 p.m. in the parking lot west of Bob Ward & Sons Sporting Goods.

But there's plenty to do before the big show with the Missoula Midtown Association sponsoring their first ever 4th of July Lights Parade which will include floats, vehicles, walkers and bikes. It'll step off at 9:30 p.m. on North Avenue by Al's Furniture, head to Johnson Street and then end up in the mall's parking lot.

Some streets around the parade route, including the Johnson Street/South Avenue intersection will be temporarily closed as the parade passes and drivers wishing to cross on South Avenue will want to select an alternate route between 9:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. Meanwhile, folks heading to the mall during that time will want to do so from the Grant Street, Paxon Street, Brooks Street or Dearborn Avenue entrances.
