MISSOULA - Three thousand pounds of frozen chickens were delivered to the Missoula Food Bank on Thursday.
The 28th annual Holiday Drive is underway, and it's the biggest food drive of the year. The Missoula Food Bank has raised over $56,000 in funding, as well as over 14,000 pounds in food.
Thursday's chicken drop-off was a major boost for the drive, and also a huge help for many families during this holiday season.
"The lean proteins - particularly meat - is one of our most requested items here at the food bank. We don't get a lot of it. It's incredibly expensive to buy, and so this donation is of incredible value to our clients and to just our community," the Missoula food bank's Jessica Allred.
The Missoula Food Bank will be collecting food and money until Dec. 20.
