MISSOULA - The City of Missoula is kicking off its Best Place marketing effort, with the goal of identifying the selling points the city should use in attracting new business.
Missoula Mayor John Engen will formally announce the program later this week. But a consultant is already hitting the streets, gathering the initial information on the city's infrastructure, workforce and what it has to convince new businesses to re-locate here.
"And then we'll take all that information, digest it. I have an economist on our staff who will then help identify the types of business that are compatible to Missoula and we'll make that report and recommendation to the Mayor" explained Jay Garner with Garner Economics.
He added that he's already done a "windshield survey" and is impressed with Missoula's diverse, younger workforce. The data collection phase wraps up this week and Garner says the final action report should be ready for the city to use in just over a month.
