MISSOULA - It was a four-way race for mayor in Missoula, but in the end, incumbent Mayor John Engen ran away with the race and keeps his job for a third term, easily defeating challengers Mike Hyde, Peggy Cain and Dean McCollom.
"I continue to get to do the job I love, and the job I've done for eight years. I'm looking forward to four more of working with great people to make great things for a great city," Engen said Tuesday night.
The Democrat told us that there's a lot he wants to get done during his next term.
"I hope we can purchase [the] water company - we're marching down that path. I also hope we can continue the work we've done on economic development. I want to build a regional park at Fort Missoula, and there's a lot more that will just come up," Engen said Tuesday night.
The unofficial results showed Engen had 10,028 votes, well ahead of the second place Cain - who had 2,515 votes. She was followed by McCollom with 1,089 votes and Hyde with 911 votes.
