MISSOULA - A Missoula non-profit conservation organization is being recognized for its effort in going green.
Ecology Project International, which focuses on involving high school youth in participatory science and conservation projects, has been named "Green Power Pioneer" for being the first non-profit to purchase Renewable Energy Certificate from the Green Power Missoula Program.
Those who purchase these certificates reduce carbon emissions, increase the demand for renewable electricity and help limit greenhouse gas emissions.
"We work really hard to learn about and protect the environment where we live and this is just one way that we can do that. Not only through the courses that we teach, but through the business that we're conducting in the office," explained Julie Osborn, the co-founder and Advancement Director at EPI.
Osborn added she hopes that by signing up for this program, her company can encourage others to do so as well.
