MISSOULA - The Press Box has long been a favorite stop before and after University of Montana athletic events, but soon things won't be quite the same at the sports bar on East Broadway.
Gordie Fix has sold the Press Box, the Griz fan bar located a short walk across the Clark Fork River from the UM campus, after 27 years.
Fix won't say who the new owners are, but he described them as "two nice young men from Missoula."
Fix says he had mixed emotions when he signed the paperwork Thursday morning. He'll miss the regular customers and all the memorabilia on the walls, including a goal post from one of UM's national championships in football.
But Fix says now he'll now be able to travel and visit many of the friends he has made over the years. That includes some former Griz football players who are in the National Football League or coaching in major conferences.
Fix expects final approval of the sale will be by April 1, and says the incoming owners aren't expected to make big changes.
