MISSOULA - As a part of a nationwide project, a local company is painting rooms, hallways and offices at a Missoula transitional living shelter for free.
Mountain Home Montana helps young moms and their children by giving them a place to live, learn and go on to lead productive lives.
The Missoula Mayor John Engen recommended the shelter for a painting makeover as part of the "Color Care Across America," for shelters. The Missoula shelter was the only one in the state to be selected for the project.
The shelter's executive director says the paint crew is helping them stick with a three-color scheme.
"Usually painting around here happens from some can of paint being donated and volunteers or ourselves doing the painting. That leads to a hodge podge of different painted rooms, different colors and all sorts of things. So for upkeep and maintenance it's really difficult to remember what room had what color," says Gypsy Ray, Mountain Home Montana Executive Director.
The goal of the project is to complete the color makeovers for one shelter in each state within 50 days.
