MISSOULA- The Missoula community welcomed a new trail to town Sunday with a grand opening celebration for the River Road segment of the Milwaukee Trail taking place at Bentley Park.
The new trail links the River Road Neighborhood to the rest of the Missoula trail system with the one mile paved trail running from Russell Street to Reserve Street.
The grand opening celebration featured live music, a bike parade and a visit from Grizzly mascot Monte.
"It allows people to come together. It allows everybody to have family that can get together as family and friends and meet neighbors and just have a really good time together," said River Road Neighborhood Council member, Jeremy Flesch.
"One of the things we're really focusing on is connections. Connections amount family members, connections among community members and just making this and even better community," he added.
The trail features improvements including safety-enhanced street crossings, landscaping and benches.
