MISSOULA- The Missoula County Sheriff's Office has released the name of the transient man who was found dead Thursday morning near the Mountain Line bus transfer station.

The victim is James Ferguson, 59, of Missoula. Missoula Police detectives say Ferguson's friend found him unconscious on the sidewalk and Ferguson was taken to the hospital where medical personnel pronounced him dead.

The cause of death is still under investigation, but investigators don't believe foul play was involved. Police say they knew Ferguson because he had previous run-ins with law enforcement.
