MISSOULA- United Way of Missoula County is kicking off its fall fundraising effort.

The organization provides financial support to programs like Watson Children's Shelter, Missoula Food Bank, the Poverello Center, and the Flagship Program in Missoula public schools.

Last year, United Way raised more than a million dollars. The goal this year is higher...at 1.2 million dollars.

"We're just trying to reach out to new donors and people that may not have heard our message before. Live United is our mantra--that everyone can live united---that you don't have to make a $500 gift, that you can give $1 or $5 through your paycheck every month." said Beth Burman Frazee, United Way of Missoula County.

The United Way campaign runs through the end of the year.
