Missoula welcomes in Chinese New Year

MISSOULA - It may be February already, but the Chinese New Year just started this past Friday - marking the beginning of the year of the horse.

A Chinese New Year celebration and talent show was held over the weekend at the University of Montana to mark the holiday.

The talent show featured performers of all ages, including students from Paxson Elementary School, who sang a song called "Finding Friends" and "happy birthday" in Chinese.

UM and high school students performed dances and songs, with Suhan Chen, Director of the Confucius Institute at UM, explaining that when the "horse arrives it brings success."

The event was put on by the Maureen and Mike Mansfield Library and the Confucius Institute at the University of Montana.
