MISSOULA - If you're trying to recover something stolen, it's not a bad idea to call pawn shops and resellers.

One example is the Snowbowl Ski Patrol, which was relieved to recover stolen skis from Play It Again Sports this week.

Store manager Justin Hamborsky said they occasionally see stolen items brought in during the holidays.

He explained that his employees question the sellers, and document the person's identity, as well as their driver's license number to determine whether they are the true owner of the equipment.

Hamborsky told us that immediately spreading the word and alerting pawn shops is crucial to help prosecute the thief and get your items returned.

"In this case it wasn't just one person who may have called. It was...through Facebook and phone calls, which pretty much made this happen...it's really nice to see Missoula stick together and stick up for each other, and help get some skis back to their home," he commented.

Hamborsky says if they're alerted in time, pawn shop employees will stall the thief and call the cops to make an arrest.
