GREAT FALLS- Diane and Clifford Amdahl of Great Falls celebrated their 35th Valentine's Day together on Tuesday.
"We were put in love, I think we knew from the beginning," Diane said.
And celebrating Valentine's Day is something special for the couple; Diane explained, "It's a love day and we always went out to dinner on Valentine's Day. Every holiday was important to us because we could celebrate it together."
But three years ago, their holiday traditions and daily routines changed, when Clifford was diagnosed with Alzheimer's and moved into a nursing home.
"Living at home alone isn't so fun, but I can still come and see my husband, and he knows me and he knows my name," she said.
Diane visits her husband every day, to watch the news, read the funny pages of the paper, and keep each other company.
"They take good care of him here and he's made some friends with the other residents in his unit and because of his smile everyone likes him," she noted.
For Clifford, today may be just like any other day with his beautiful wife sitting by his side, and for Diane, it's day to cherish the celebration of another holiday together: "He loves me and I love him and that's never going to change."
