Police are investigating what appears to be an early Friday morning drive by shooting on Billings' southside. Authorities say that just after 5 a.m., an 18-year old Hispanic male was shot in the abdomen while walking with another male in the area of Fourth Avenue South and South Broadway.

A Three Forks man who has admitted to killing his ex-girlfriend may now withdraw his guilty plea after his attorney raised questions about a "huge problem" he encountered while reviewing the pre-sentence report. Peter Ohman told a judge that he recently received paperwork that included a statement made by Myran's teenage son, Lance, that he hadn't seen prior to his client pleading guilty to deliberate homicide and evidence tampering.

Banks from Billings to Bozeman to Helena have been hit hard by the declining economy and regulators have stepped in, but in many of these cases to ensure Montana's money is safe according the Montana Division of Banking Commissioner Annie Goodwin. At least six banks in the state are currently undergoing disciplinary action including Ravalli County Bank in Hamilton and Lake County Bank in St. Ignatius.

Tickets for the first Griz game of the season are almost sold out, but a Adams Center box office representative hopes season ticket holders will show up despite Labor Day weekend. There were still a few dozen tickets are still available for the game against The Western State Mountaineers at last check. The game begins at 1:05 p.m. and will be aired on Montana's CW network.

The Montana Meth Project wants fans to up at Saturday's Griz football game decked out in black. The organization is joining forces with UM to spread the word about the risks of methamphetamine use. UM's marching band will be wearing black uniforms and organizers say some other surprises are in the works on the field and around the stadium.

Senator Jon Tester will be visiting the Revett Minerals mine in Troy today and will tour the facilities which produce copper, silver and gold. The mine received some negative attention a while ago for a mine shaft cave-in which killed a worker in 2007. The Revett Mine employs nearly 200 workers on site.

The hours are counting down until Labor Day weekend begins and the automotive group AAA predicts that more Montanans will be traveling for the long holiday weekend this year than last. The Griz open their season in Missoula on Saturday at 1:05 and there's also the Sanders County Fair in Plains, as well as the Ravalli County Fair in Hamilton taking place over the long weekend.
