MISSOULA - The hours are counting down until Labor Day weekend begins and the automotive group AAA predicts that more Montanans will be traveling for the long holiday weekend this year than last. But, you don't have to travel far to enjoy this weekend's festivities.

Grizzly football fans have been eager to pick up their tickets for this year's season home opener and you can take on the Western State College of Colorado Mountaineers. The game gets underway on Saturday at 1 p.m. in Washington-Grizzly Stadium, but if you can't attend the game, it will be broadcast on the Montana CW.

Folks can head to the biggest little rodeo in Montana during the Helmville Labor Day Rodeo. Sunday features the top six bareback riders in the NRA, followed by a dance at the Helmville Community Hall at 9 p.m. The top six saddle bronc riders compete on Monday.

It's a county fair with western flair with the Sanders County Fair in Plains and it continues through the weekend. The PRCA Rodeo takes place both Friday and Saturday nights at 8 p.m. The Demolition Derby closes the arena activities and the show starts at 5 p.m.

Meanwhile, the Ravalli County Fair boasts fun, carefree family events, which include Calamity Jane's "Snippits" performed by the Bitterroot Ballet at 6 p.m. on both Friday and Saturday, preceded by a Rodeo on Saturday at 7 p.m.

Come and enjoy one of the best little car shows in Montana! The third annual Rumble in the Bay Car Show takes place in Bigfork on Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Activities include a Show & Shine, a downtown poker walk, 50/50 split the pot and lots of raffles.

If you have a weekend event that is sure to pack the stands, drop us an email and let us know about it.
