LIBBY- The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is just starting to analyze the latest wood chip samples at the Port Authority site to determine if they contain a dangerous amount of asbestos.
EPA onsite Remedial Project Manager Mike Cirian estimates about 100 samples from the former Stimson Lumber site were tested for asbestos back in August.
All of those samples had to be prepped before the results could be sent in and the first result was submitted to the EPA earlier this week.
Cirian says it takes about 1½ days to read each sample and added he doesn't expect the results for the activity-based sampling be ready until 2012. He hopes to be finished reading the samples by January.
