Police say after 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, a man in his 20s was looking at a rifle with a Walmart employee before he snatched it and ran outside, jumped into a car and then took off.
Missoula police spotted the stolen vehicle driving southbound on Reserve Street, and when they attempted to pull the car over, the man led police on a short pursuit.
The man attempted to turn right on Spurgin Road, but took the turn to fast and ended up crashing through a fence and then into a ditch. The suspect was taken to the hospital for minor injuries.
